Ecoble: Is Global Warming Real? 5 Proofs That Urge Action

  • R James · 1 year ago
This is just not correct. Global temperature has increased 0.7 degC in the past 160 years, and dropped over the past 10 years. Checking over the past 2,000 years, this is normal. Drought in Australia - I checked rainfall patterns for the past 100 years, and long term, a slight increase in rainfall. Droughts hit about every 20 years - nothing unusual there. The IPCC summary is written by politicains - they don't carry out research (see their website). They claim this is reviewed bt 2,000 scientists - perhaps, but what they don't tell us is that they don't agree with it. Sorry, no matter how har I look, I just can't find any substantiated change in long term weather patterns.

not quite. if a man decides to go and kill another man just for fun, is that what god had planed for that mans destiny??i think god has a pathway set for us, but we can either choose to go on that path or steer away from it.

Wow, everyone wants a simple answer to a complex question. Ok, here it is ...yes, and no. Yes, global warming is real. It is documented that the temps have risen one degree in 150 years. That comes out to .007 degrees per year. The real questions are, is this increase natural or man-made? Can we actually change this trend, or is this just like us trying to change the path of a hurricane? We know there have been fluctuations in average temperatures as long as the Earth has existed. At the same time, we owe it to future generations to care for our planet. I believe we need to explore new energy sources, reduce consumption of resources, and, most importantly, DON'T PANIC! This planet is bigger than all of us, and will be here long after we are gone.
  • BAYLEA · 7 months ago
Here the simplest answer you can get.Only god can controll when the earth is gonna end.
the Earth has been here forever when it ends it ends, but we can start helping by recycling and saving natural resources.that was 4 every one.I'm not saying that us helping the Earth is gonna be trash free like in a day it takes time, but we can still do if we work together, and try to save the Earth. If you agree plaese type me a nice message. If not type me saying why you dont like it.

  • Rayne · 11 months ago
God is and illusion, don't play yourselves, and yes we shouldn't panic. panicing solves nothing.
  • Ashlee · 10 months ago
NO he is not he is real how can people write a Enormous book ( the bible if you even know what that is) on someone that is just an allusion?!?!?!?!?! if you dont believe in him......well we all know were your going to spend internal life......
  • Wembly · 9 months ago
Ashlee, I am a Christian, but your comment is just embarrassing. First work on your vocabulary, then we'll discuss your theological arguments. I admire your faith, but there are ways to argue properly. Stay away from the Bible argument you made. Ever hear of Harry Potter? Star Wars? The Lord of the Rings? They come from a genre of fiction. That's when people write stuff that isn't real, and make it into a book. People are going to take what you said and laugh at it and say "Yeah, it's a book... of fiction." You need to stop threatening people with Hell (very unlike Jesus) and you need to not sound so condescending (very unlike Jesus). And you might want to think about your "internal" life.

your totally wrong wembly what kind of name is that wembly is wimpy your a momma's baby
  • Neel · 7 months ago
    baylea. seriously.

    1. WHAT DOES GOD HAVE TO DO WITH THIS, REALLY?
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT IF HE EXISTS OR NOT; thats not what this article is about...
i am a strong christian, but that doesnt affect my views on global warming...

    2. you cant tell someone they cant judge someone based on their vocabulary and then go and criticize their name...
  • baylea · 7 months ago
yeah I can its a free country I could make fun of your name but im not because your nice
  • Benjamin · 7 months ago
Most of the bible wasn't written by Christians, period. The Old Testament is taken from the Jewish scripture the Torah .. are you aware of this? I guess it wouldn't be correct for a Christian to initially comment on such a matter in the way he/she did. Approach this topic logically. Your out-dated way of close minded thinking, by following word for word one written book in a literal manner is obscene. The church over time has acknowledged errors in its beliefs which have been scientifically proven. For one it was accepted by the church that the earth is the center of the universe and that all things revolve around it in perfect circle. This was discredited by science and the church's opinion was reversed on the matter. They conceded that in fact, the earth is not the center of the universe or our solar system. I guess everything written (thousands of years ago I mind you) hasn't turned out to be true. Here's another blow to such faith: There are two types of water on earth, H20 and HDO. aka Regular water and Heavy Water. Heavy water, or HDO contains a hydrogen atom that has an extra neutron. This type of hydrogen is called deuterium. Scientists were able to send a space probe to tail Halley's comet, and a few other comets whose names slip me. They collected water vapor from the comet's trail and found that the HDO levels were 10 times greater than the concentration of HDO on earth. It couldn't have only come from comets... blah blah blah long story short they were able to analyze debris in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter and found higher concentrations of H20... Every time you take a sip of water, you're drinking liquid that's 14 billion years old. Wow, science can be interesting huh?
  • Tara · 7 months ago
    I second that
  • Michael · 11 months ago
I was hoping to actually learn something other than the standard generic statements. What are the real facts? The article states "Scientists have also discovered a correlation between these temperatures and the level of carbon dioxide (and more recently methane gas) in the atmosphere." but it doesn't say what the statistical correlation was (.37 or .87 or -.5), nor does it mention what was actually correlated.
  • Shane · 10 months ago
I agree with rayne. we are in big trouble with global warming. once the average temp rises above 2 degrees celcius, around 12 degrees F, it is almost if not impossible to reverse the effects of global warming. Storms are getting stronger, sea levels are rising. there is so much proof that global warming is in effect. i will garauntee that the president will make a national address on the topic. take my word. remember this.
  • shanel · 10 months ago
have some faith, God didn't put us on this earth to either freeze or burn over, he has a plan.
all this stuff happening is just a sign that he is coming soon, the Bible says that there will be earth quakes and other things in various places so dont be scared, it's all in God's plan!
im a christian just to let you know! he he...
  • Katelyn · 10 months ago
how do you know this for sure just becasue you read a bible thats man made and could put his own thought in?
  • michaelmt · 2 weeks ago
Thank you to every one who has posted, I have enjoyed reading your comments and learning the different sides to this discussion. Some of my questions were answered and I am ready to do some more research.

The Christian Bible has been around for thousands years. The Christian Bible and the Islamic Bible both reference some of the same characters such as Jesus and the prophet Elisha. The Bible is historically accurate in many areas (especially easy to track history through the New Testament and the Roman Empire.) The King James Version of the Bible has not changed since 1611. The Bible has answers to any question out there. The Bible contains every success principle spoken about by leaders like John Maxwell, Napoleon Hill, etc.

Finally the last, but my personal favorite, reason that I know I can believe in the Bible is that God has made himself plain to not only myself but all people (Romans 1:19.) I study science because of my belief in God. Let us not forget that the first documented scientists like Newton were Christians seeking science to appreciate God's creations :) .

Anyway, I would have to side with many of you who are wondering ... "Is Global warming all hysteria and politics?" I have a few questions that no one seems to have answers to:
    1. When you fly in an airplane, what is the ratio between vegetation to concrete (I see much, much more green than gray.)
    2. What percentage of green house gas does the Human race contribute? I have seen studies that have statistical data that shows one volcano eruption causes more green house gases to be released than the amount Man has produced in ten years.
    3. Isn't this Global warming similar to the "Global Cooling Scare" of the 1970s. First we are headed to an Ice age and now only 30 years later we are all going to burn up?

Thanks again to all who have taken their time to post!

I believe in global warming of not being a hoax, but I also believe strongly in the fact that the global warming crisis has been severly over exaggerated. Is the following facts above the absolute truth that global warming is real, or is it just a possible theory that needs further information?
  • Jory · 9 months ago
Global warming is real even if it is a little over exaggerated. its still somthing we need to take seriously.. but maybe its just all part of the cycle of like dinosaurs.. although that sucks cuz that means we are dead. There is actual evidence that says the eath is warming up extremely. like go watch an inconvenient truth lol..

And if you are over fifteen years old, i am 17, then you have actually seen the effects of GW in your life time because summers used to be at most 30 degrees (i live in canada by the way) and now they are reaching scorching tempuratures of 45! thats outrageous! if there is somthing we can do to save our race, why not try it?
  • Andrew · 9 months ago
"like go watch an inconvenient truth lol..."

Wasn't that movie sued because of false "facts" about global warming? Research the case on that issue.

I don't believe global warming is as big of an issue as people are trying to make it out to be. Can we affect our earth's atmosphere? I think so, yes. Is there enough evidence to prove the large claims of global warming true? I'd say no. The affects we have aren't large enough to cause the damage it seems like so many want to believe.

The earth has had MUCH hotter times than what we're going through. And aren't we actually overdue for an ice age, I don't know the details but I remember hearing claims of that too? It is natural for the earth's climate to go through cyclical changes. Just like the inconvenient truth was doing, I think there is a lot of contorted "truth".
  • JAke Hawley · 9 months ago
I think your taking isolated events that have been happening for hundreds of years and bringing them forward as Doomy gloom talk to scare people into voting democrat. Floods, fires and hot summers have been happening FOREVER! People are just now taking them and using them as examples to support global warming.
  • Baylea · 8 months ago
yeah I kinda belive in Global Warming, but for christ sakes the Earth is 30,000,000 yrs. old I think sooner or later the Earth is gonna give out,and die just like a human would, and besides I want to recycle, but my city doesn't have a recycle program
  • Smiling Jack · 8 months ago
Try 4,500,000,000 years old, or 4.5 billion years old.
On a separate note though, I must say I do believe in climate change, people simply cannot: 1) Drive millions and millions of cars, planes, etc. around. And 2) Cut down trees which absord alot of the CO2 and expect it will not have any effect (even tiny) on anything. One would think talking on the scale of the earth, even a tiny amount of change would have extreme effects.
Also, didn't we see problems over the '08 Olympic Games where Beijing (I think) had problems with the blanket of smog hanging around?
None of this was based on evidence like most people's opinions but it was just a sensible thought.
  • Brandon · 7 months ago
Though your observations might look reasonable at face-value, the problem with them is that they are not based on evidence, as you pointed out (which was good of you) in your last sentence.

Your first statement about cars polluting the Earth is correct, but the amount of carbon emissions resulting from them is not nearly enough to cause any change in the climate, at least not on the level of 'Global Warming'. Cities, such as Beijing, are obviously going to be quite a bit polluted due to the amount of emissions there, but if you put in perspective with the rest of the mass of the Earth, it becomes a lot smaller.

Your second claim, however, is redundant. Though I certainly don't support the mass deforesting that occurs, though much of it is for economical reasons, their loss will not majorly affect the Earth. Photoplankton on the surfaces of water bodies like lakes and oceans are responsible for 99% of the CO2 production that occurs on the Earth. Trees are responsible for less than 1% of it.
  • Brandon · 7 months ago
Yes, the Earth is warming, but it is part of a natural warming pattern that is temporary (as in a few centuries or less) and it is certainly not due to man-made emissions. The actual statistics, if anyone had cared to look at them, prove this fact.

In addition, the Earth is not warming as fast as this article might suggest. These incidents of high temperatures, long summers, and melting ice caps are clearly only showing one side of the story. For a local example, here in Chicago for nearly a month and a half straight the temperature was less than 20 degrees in the winter, and it was in the negatives for a few weeks straight.

In summary, people should do more research before they write or read articles like these.
  • Smiling Jack · 7 months ago

Global Warming is real, sure but it is not caused by HUMANS its caused by the GLOBE we all live on. It will destroy and rebuild itself millions of times after we are gone, just as it has done millions of times before we came here. • Hayden_C · 4 months ago
    A) You completely made those statistics up yourself.
    B) You are Baylea. So that's about 3 or 4 people you're pretending to be.
    C) Why has no one brought up volcanoes in this discussion? You know, those big mountain things that erupt Co2? Yeah, they've been erupting for 4.5 billion years now (not 30 million as you suggested earlier), and we have been giving off Co2 for about 150 years... But Global Warming (or Global Scamming, as a more appropriate name for it) is just happening now? You people realize that all the Co2 that we've emitted in these 150 years is roughly equal to .001% of the Co2 that volcanoes have emitted in the last 4.5 billion years, right? Because when Earth was just made, it was completely covered with Volcanoes. But Global Scamming is just happening NOW, right after a bunch of end-of-the-world-scams just ended (e.g. Acid Rain scam, Y2K)? Global Scamming is sooo fake.
    D) Also, 30,000 scientists, 9,000 with PhDs, are suing Al Gore for FRAUD because of Global Scamming! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfHW7KR33IQ
    E) Remember the thing about the volcanoes? Well guess what we breathe out? Co2! But Global Scamming is happening now, right after a series of failed/fake end-of-the-world-scams!

Feel free to reply to me :)

#1 As a Christian, I am amazed at some of the Christians who have commented on this post. I apologize to those who are offended by such people. This is not the kind of offense Jesus had in mind.

#2 With regards to global warming, I don't think it's really happening. I'm skeptical. There are many reasons. First, I've heard that many who are pushing this "cap and trade" bill stand to profit if it is put into effect. Second, Al Gore is one of those. Third, we've had a rather cool Spring and early Summer here in Nebraska. It's also been wet. It seems like we go through cycles. Fourth, I've heard many in the Northeast complain about the lack of a Spring. This is curious as well. Fifth, there are some that have acutally come out and said what the real agenda is here: redistribution of wealth. Now, you can make the argument that this is a good thing. Still, I believe in private property, and I think that the Bible backs me up on this, as well as the US Constitution.

Whether Global Warming is true or not is not a religious issue. I do happen to believe, however, that God made this world, and that it will remain until Jesus returns, just as He promised. He died for my sins, and yours, and grants eternal salvation to all who believe His Word. He says, "A time is coming and is now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of Man and those that hear will live." John 5. It's about His Word and His Promises. That's what Christianity is about. One can believe Global Warming is true and Christianity is true at the same time. I, however, do not. Thanks for reading.

if CO2 raises temperature then why isn't Mars burning up? it has an atmosphere of 95% CO2.
we only have .3% CO2. global warming is a scam but legislation will be passed on it and not for any scientific reason, after the dems took office they bought stock in the companies that will make money off of things like cap and trade, its interesting to research that. as they say follow the money.

You make the same arguments that all the proponents of global warming make. The trouble is you have no proof. I have been asking anyone that proclaims that "global warming/climate change" is man made. Where is the proof? You always show some picture of a factory belching out smoke. Well back in the 60s and70s you might have gotten away witht that, but not today. We have done a tremendous job of cleaning up industry. Or you show a lake that has "dissapeared". In you'r example it's Lake Lanier in GA. I live in GA, come look at lake lanier now. We have had a drought for the last 7 years or so, but now we are up to our necks in water. Natural cycles are what you try to shove in peoples faces and say"the sky is falling, the sky is falling". I have even seen pictures of nuke plant cooling towers shown as "pollution". Some of you Jonesites "I like to call you that cause remember Jim Jones and his people who drank the cool-aid?" You don't even know that cooling towers can only put out pure steam. No I haven't seen ANY proof that the earth is warming. Go find another soap box.
  • Jb Oxborrow · 2 months ago
The temperature maybe warmer now than 150 years ago. However, it is colder than it has been for most of the last 10,000 years. Likely much cooler than the medieval warm period. The IPCC is a farce–its science long since disproved.
